There are a couple of options to choose from here. Plants are either a single plant in a pot or multiple plants in a pot. This is what is meant when we say clump. Clump can mean two plants to 6 in a pot. You can use the pictures as a guide to the size. When choosing plants we always try to choose the largest ones to ship to you.

This variety has been around for a very long time. There is reason for that it is super Hardy and incredibly beautiful. Ficus Elastica burgundy makes a great beginner plant for all these reasons.

Given bright indirect light it will grow very quickly. Has medium water requirements and like the rich soil.

Care Instructions

If you have ever walked down the street in a tropical area you have probably seen a huge full sized ficus happily growing along the sidewalk.  Yes, they are full sized trees.  Yes, they grow in the full sun.  That being said, if you have your ficus in a darker part of the house gradually transition to a brighter window.   Rubber trees are really tough and great for beginners.  I’ve seen way more lose their leaves from lack of light than too much light.  They need bright light to flourish!

Water and Soil

Water once the soil becomes slightly dry to the touch and make sure the pot has sufficient drainage holes to allow excess water to seep through. The worst thing you can do is water logging the plant.  Your average big box potting soil is fine, but if you want your ficus to thrive try a rich, humus filled soil with about 20% sand or perlite.

Temperature and Humidity

Average room temperatures of 60 - 75°F (15 - 24°C are fine. Avoid lower than 55°F (12°C), sudden temperature drops and cold drafts. Rubber trees are tough, but of course being from the tropics they like humidity. The average home humidity will work for the majority of Ficus, making them excellent houseplants!
